As Savannah said during The Tell, “time counts and keeps counting.” It’s been three whole years since I started Bullfish Hole! See the post “What is a Bullfish Hole, Anyway?” for an explanation of why I started and what the title of the blog means.
As is my custom, we’re having an Anniversary Sale on subscriptions! Use this link between now and July 1 for 60% off! Get in where you fit in.
During the past year, my most viewed post was “Essential Sociology.” It’s a revised version of something I wrote for my old blog that didn’t get much attention back then, so I’m glad to see it having some influence now.
Following in close second was an entry in my Explaining Behavior series on “Conflict Theory.” The next installment in that series, on neoDarwinism, should be up this month.
Third place was a tie between “Toward A Sociology of Unmasking” — a trimmed down version of a paper originally published in The American Sociologist — and the montly links roundup for last July. The latter covered such disparate topics as a Brazilian cult leader, the campus tentifada, and the films of Don Knotts, so it’s hard to say why that post in particular was so popular.
My most viewed post of all time is on George Lepre’s Fragging: Why U.S. Soldiers Assaulted Their Officers in Vietnam.
My audio content tends not to get a lot of downloads through Substack, but has started taking off on Apple Podcasts. By far the most successful installment was my interview with Bradley Campbell on “Sociology and Utopia.”
A preview of things to come:
“Explaining Behavior 13: NeoDarwinism”
“Explaining Behavior 14: Blackian Theory”
“The Interdisciplinary Potential of Pure Sociology”
“Political Conflict Among Grad Students”
“How Woke Are Grad Students in the Sciences?”
“Who Were the Levites?”
“Homeschooling Notes: More Folk Tales”
“Collective Violence in American History: American Riot”
Books: I’m open to suggestions!
Many thanks to my subscribers! Especially those of you who shell out money to support this endeavor! I appreciate you!
